Swedish King from France

Jean Bernadotte  renowned as Charles XIV John was elected heir presumptive of the Swedish thorn on 1818 when the royal family was  dieing out whit the death of previous crown prince Charles August. Now existing royal family is the decedents of  Jean Bernadotte.

Clara Church of Stockholm

One of the oldest church right in to the center of Stockholm Central Station open for the visitors in official visiting hours and there is No Entry fee. It was built on  medieval time and run by the Church of Sweden.

Cheap food to eat in Stockholm

In Stockholm  it is quite expensive to get in to a restaurant for a budget back pack tourist. Here I will try to answer what is cheap and where can you get the budget food. I have included the current estimated price of the foods, it might change any time.

Stockholm's cheapest foods are
1. Bread(4-6 SEK), bananas(15-20 SEK/KG), Salami/sliced meat, Cup Cakes(20 SEK/Packet) - Lidl Super shop. www.lidl.se
2. Coffee(10 SEK), light snakes(10 SEK) -  ICA super shop in Sergels Torg side of the Stockholm central (T-Central) metro station.
3. Happy meal for kids but doesn't matter if you are an adult - (Cheese burger + french fires + drinks/juice + Frouit +a toy/book) 30 SEK.
4. Cheese burgers(10 SEK) - In any Mcdonalds. Now  most of them sell breakfast from 6.00AM-10.00AM. So no burger by this time. . http://www.mcdonalds.se
5. Cheese burgers (10 SEK) , Cone ice cream (5 SEK) - In any Burger King.
6. Some cookies in Lidl and ICA cost around 10-12 SEK.
7. Sweetened Yogurt  in any super shop.1 liter 17-30 SEK
7. Water  is free in McDonalds and in  Burger King but they often charge 3 SEK.

There is a Mcdonalds and 2 Burger King restaurants in Central station. Two other Mcdonalds restaurants are close to central station. But there is no Lidl shop is close to central station.

That's all i can remember now, i will comeback with more details later.

Stockholm's Overnight stand or 24hours open places

The option of 24 hours open place in Stockholm  is not so much. However, there is some Mcdonald's restaurants can be used as a overnight stand point but it is not  allowed to fall asleep. Not a comfortable option but at least you have a shelter  instead of shivering outside.

There is three  McDonalds Restaurants close to central station but unfortunately none of them are open over night. Among these restaurants, Mcdonalds in Vasagatan stays open till late night.  Here is the current (19-06-2014) working hours of Mcdonalds Vasagatan.

But fololowing restaurants are open for 24 hours.
McDonalds  at Kungsgatan 4,  15 Min Walk from Central Station.
Mcdonalds in Slussen (Katarinavägen 1-3) 20 Min Walk from Central Station.
Mcdonalds in Sveavägen 71, 20 Min Walk from Central Station.
McDonalds at Fridhemsplan (S:t Eriksgatan 32) 30 Min Walk from Central Station.

 Chik Here  to see the list of McDonald restaurant all over Sweden and you can check the opening hours as well if you are driving through the country. Statoil gasoline stations often have a small shop around them that is open for 24 hours as well.

Rosersberg Palace of Stockholm

Rosersberg Palace is one of the royal palace of Stockholm used as a hotel and conferetonce center now. I will Not recommend for the backpack tourists. It does not worth your valuable time and energy in your short visit in Stockholm. It takes about 30 minutes (2.8 KM) walk from Rosersberg station to the palace. There might be a bus that will drop you little bit closer but still a long way to go to reach the palace.

But still there is some good things to say about it. The palace is away from the city, surrounded by beautiful natural views. A great place to spend a night in the palace hotel.

The most interesting thing i saw in the front entry of the the place is  the dog statue.  It is probably the only royal palace of the world with a dog statue in front of it.

Behind the Palace, there is a field and a garden.  People of the palace take a good care of these staffs. Part of lake Malaren also reach  here and the view is great. You might see the air-crafts going to land in Arlanda Airport often from here.

Stockholm Royal Palace

Unlike most of the old European palaces Stockholm Royal Palace still serves its official purpose as Swedish king's office. It is situated in the Gamlastan (The Old town) between Swedish parliament and the Stockholm cathedral. These places are so close that it takes only 3-5 minutes to walk a place to another.

Fridhemsplan - Stockholm's Metro / Subway / Underground Station

Fridhemsplan is one of the oldest station in the subway system of Stockholm built on 1952. Extended part of blueline come to operation on 1975 around 28-31 meters underneath the ground. It is the  blue-green  interchange as all the trains of the "Green Line" and the "Blue line" passes through it. It is probably largest tube station in the city after T-centralen.

Olof Palme's Grave

Olof Palme murder was the first political murder of modern Swedish political history. Asssinition took place on the street near Stockholm central on February 28, 1986. He was probably the  most popular Prime Minister of Sweden  from Social Democratic party.

To seal summer the Summer ticket Stockholm Local (SL) Traffic is advertising on the billboards of tunnel system but the language is so hilarious. It seems they just translate the Swedish word to English using Google translate or may be by some other worse translator. Have a look by your self...

Bigger Jarl is considered as the founder of the city of Stockholm. Although the place where the old town of Stockholm is situated  was the transit point of Baltic sea and the lake Malaren . This place was the main gateway to the viking settlement of Birka and Sigtuna.

Karla church situated near the Stockholm central station. An hotel building is demolished to construct new commuter train station underneath the blue line subway line.

Riddarholmen Church is one of the oldest church around Stockholm used for the burial service of the Swedish kings.

সুইডেনে একতা কালচারাল অর্গানাইজেশনের উদ্যোগে সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন

গত ৫ই এপ্রিল শনিবার স্কার্পনেক কুলতুরহুসে (কালচারাল সেন্টার) একতা কালচারাল অর্গানাইজেশনের উদ্যোগে এক সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়। বাংলা নব বর্ষবরণ উৎসব কে সামনে রেখে সুইডেন একতার এই উদ্যোগে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশীরা ছাড়াও সামিল হন স্থানীয় রাজনৈতিক নেতৃবৃন্দ।

গ্রীষ্মের দ্বারপ্রান্তে দাঁড়িয়ে বছরের এই সময়ে স্টকহোমের দিনগুলো বেশ লম্বা। তাই সন্ধ্যা ৭টায় বেজে গেলেও  দিনের আলো ফুরিয়ে যায় না।  স্নিগ্ধা  খানের  পরিচালনায়, পড়ন্ত বিকেলে শুরু হওয়া এই অনুষ্ঠানটিকে তিন ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে বক্তব্য রাখেন   সুইডেনে বাংলাদেশের রাষ্ট্রদূত  জনাব  গোলাম সারোয়ার, ফাস্ট-সেক্রেটারি জনাব কামরুজ্জামান,  সুইডিশ ভেনস্টার পার্টির আনা মারর্গারেট ,  চার্চ অব সুইডেনের প্রতিনিধি ক্রিস্টিনা মারর্গারেট,  রাফিক আমেরি ও মেহেরুন নাজ সহ আরো অনেকে। এছাড়া অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জিয়া পরিষদ সচিব মাসুদুল হক হিমু।

দ্বিতীয় পর্বে বিভিন্ন পরিবেশনায়  অংশ নেয় প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী নতুন প্রজন্ম। এই পর্বের প্রথমেই নৃত্য পরিবেশন করে অন্তরা। এর পর কারিন নাজের কোরিওগ্রাফিতে নৃত্য পরিবেশন করেন  একদল নৃত্য শিল্পী। এরপর  মৌসুমি ভৌমিকের গান পরিবেশন করে অনিমা।

বিরতির পর তৃতীয় পর্বে মঞ্চে আসেন অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান আকর্ষণ আবৃতি শিল্পী শিমুল মোস্তফা। প্রথমে তিনি একক আবৃতিতে নাজিম হিকমতের  জেলখানার চিঠি, আমার পরিচয়, কেউ কথা রাখেনি সহ অনেক জনপ্রিয় কবিতা আবৃতি করেন। এর পর নিউইয়র্ক হতে আগত শিল্পী নাভিনের গানের সাথে আবৃতি পরিবেশন করেন।  তাঁর অনবদ্য পরিবেশনা, বুঁদ হয়ে উপভোগ করেন আগত অতিথিবৃন্দ। সবশেষে  একক সংগীত পরিবেশন করেন নাভিন আনা।

বাংলাদেশ হতে আরও শিল্পী আসার কথা থাকলেও  ভিসা গত জটিলতার কারণে অনুষ্ঠানে তাঁরা আসতে পারেননি। কিন্তু অংশগ্রহণকারী শিল্পীবৃন্দ তাঁদের প্রাণবন্ত   পরিবেশনায় অনুষ্ঠানকে সাফল্য মণ্ডিত করে তোলেন।

অনুষ্ঠানের পাশাপাশি কেউ কেউ বিভিন্ন দেশিয় পণ্য এবং খাবারের পশরা সাজিয়ে বাসেন। দেশ হতে প্রায় সাড়ে ৬ হাজার কিলোমিটার দূর প্রবাসে তা এনে দেয় দেশিয় মেলার আমেজ। 

নানা সীমাবদ্ধতা সত্যেও আগামী প্রজন্ম কে দেশিয় সংস্কৃতির সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেবার এই প্রচেষ্টা কে আগত দর্শকেরা স্বাগত জানান।

জিয়া পরিষদ সুইডেনের উদ্যোগে মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবস উদযাপন

বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দলের (বিএনপি)  সুইডেন ভিত্তিক অংশীদারি সংগঠন জিয়া পরিষদ সুইডেন মহান স্বাধীনতা দিবস উপলক্ষে  বিজয় ২০১৪ শীর্ষক  এক সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে।  উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে  সুইডেন প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিরা  অংশগ্রহণ করেন।

স্বাগত বক্তব্যে জিয়া পরিষদের সুইডেনের ভারপ্রাপ্ত সভাপতি রাফিক আমেরি সবাইকে সভায় আসার জন্য ধন্যবাদ জানান। তিনি বলেন প্রবাসে থাকার কারণে প্রবাসীরা জাতীয় দিবস গুলো সময় মত পালন করতে পারেন না। তাই  বাধ্য হয়ে পরবর্তী  ছুটির দিনে অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজন করতে হয়।

সচিব মাসুদুল হক হিমু আমন্ত্রিত অতিথিদের অভিনন্দন জানিয়ে প্রত্যেকে সংগঠনের সাথে একত্বতা বৃদ্ধির আহবান জানান। তিনি ভবিষ্যতে আরও ভাল অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজনের আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন।

অনুষ্ঠানে সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করেন প্রবাসী  শিল্পী কানন এবং হামিদুল ইসলাম। যন্ত্রসঙ্গীতে দেশের গান ও পল্লীগীতি পরিবেশন করেন জুয়েল জামান।

 অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজকেরা আগামী ৫ই এপ্রিল  "স্কার্পনেক কুলতুরহুসে" (Skarpnäcks Kulturhus, Skarpnäcks Allé 25, Skarpnäck) আয়োজিত  সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের দাওয়াত দিয়ে সকলকে সহযোগিতার আহবান জানান। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে  মোশারফ করিম এবং শিমুল মুস্তফা সহ জাতীয় পর্যায়ের শিল্পীবৃন্দ  বিভিন্ন পরিবেশনায় অংশগ্রহণ করবেন।

Add or remove fat in Stockholm

In the Södermalm of Stockholm a open square is called Medborgarplatsen(Citizen's square). It is a free time gathering place for the people living around the area. but for me the most interesting thing to look at  is Fitness24Seven gym and the burger king are situted side by side. So it is the right place to add or remove fat.
